That you can set up private conversations with selected individuals
That I’m expected to have it on my phone and to be available 24/7 for work
We put lunch schedules and visitor schedules on slack
I like their branding and logo. It's for sure a trendy looking tech app. It's appealing to the eyes and looks very modern.
I don't really see what need that it meets. It's basically a messaging app that allows different channels. I'm not sure what the hype is about.
It's not really solving problems. It's just one more thing I need to check at work (other than phone, email, texts)
The layout and design of the website is beautiful and streamlined.
It's difficult for most users to navigate and isn't super helpful with project tracking.
I'm not really able to solve problems, or reap benefits, because my team members will not use it.
I like how organized you can be with slack
I do not like how it is not user friendly. It is slightly more complicated than group me or some other messaging software. Other softwares prove more user friendly and less complicated
N/A
You can follow different hashtags and talk to others in private messages
Slack is the most confusing internal communications platform I’ve ever used. It’s hard to navigate and has very particular things you need to do just to talk to someone.
We wanted to use Slack for our internal communications, but we found it to be super difficult and did not come with many benefits besides that it’s free.
Colors and effectively, Only very slow its like chat 1999.
Extra app im already using 365 I have Skype and it's really better than Slack.
Internal communications
The security of having VPN capability makes it easier to follow ferpa
Hard to learn and hard to use immediately on repeated calls
Educational tech support. How to use a vpn
It is easy to connect with people within Money Experience who I don't directly work with or see.
The platform is cartoonish and easy to ignroe. People seem to get distracted for hours with this.
Communication across departments. It's easier to communicate with engineers.
The user interface looks nice and it's easy to use, easy to share ideas and documents.
It can get really complicated, such that even the Slack helpdesk doesn't understand it anymore. Setting up workspaces across organizations is way too complex. The internal Slack admins don't know how to set it up and how to add users, and the Slack helpdesk so far has not been able to resolve these issues either, after having tried for to fix the issue for months. Basically, we cannot use Slack as a result.
Communicating ideas. While initial benefits looked promising, ultimately we don't benefit at all as people still have to share documents via email as they cannot do this in Slack across organizations. So it's basically doubling the work.
That is a place where everyone can talk and have sub groups within the same programs. It allows me to talk to someone outside of work and keep it professional without asking for personal information.
I don't like that it need to have account login it one more step . Making a group message might be better in some cases since it doesn't require a login. The application itself is confusing since they are a lot of tabs. Most the time we use the application for one work environment and therefore do not need the excess tabs.
We are a non profit and are solving communicating between sub projects which make it easier for a lead to track. We have seen that communication has improved between the lead and workers. However, we solved an issue of having a "group chat" to people who are involved. This is great for other workers who are interested in joining the conversation but not necessary the project. It more of a transparent platform.
I like the 1:1 chat features and some of the group chat features.
Slack is supposed to be about enabling communication to enable productivity enhancements. In reality, it just creates untold number of extra inboxes that need to be checked on an ongoing basis. I have basically taken all of my mission critical communications out of Slack and only use it for 1:1 communication or live group chats.
I have no idea what problem we are solving. Other people seem to like it. I do not.
It’s not complicated at all. Works like most messaging apps and can look a little more organized than regular texting. Works best with a close working team and for work that is too fast paced for email.
Nothing really special about this app. There are a million softwares like slack and while it is aesthetically pleasing and well organized, there’s not much to it.
Communication with team members
I like that this platform has been widely adopted as a universal means of communicating among my peers and supervisors.
I find that the work I’m collaborating on using slack could be completed more efficiently through email, conference call, etc.
It’s a new way to reach niche groups at my workplace.
- Mac and iphone apps, can use from any device - Integrates with Github - Can easily create chat groups
- It is soooooo busy - Hate the numerous amount of emojis and reactions, when people overuse them it becomes very annoying - The side bar is so cluttered, I quickly lose track of my chat groups - It's not obvious where your notifications are coming from, when I open a notification and it takes me to the chat group, I can't tell what the most recent message is. Wayy too much information everywhere
I used slack for a university software dev club, we used it to communicate our progress with the project. Again, superb that it can connect to github, but when the project manager would ping me in multiple chat groups, I would get so mad trying to find the messages pertaining to me, and would often miss them
There is nothing I can say that I actually liked about using this app
I disliked everything from the notifications all the way to how confusing it was in general
We tried to solve communication problems
Different versions of communications like direct messages and communities.
The look is super messy and confusing. Stop with so many symbols.
Notifications are annoying. Not a fan.
the integration into so many other programs and apps is fantastic
So many programs and apps have built-in communication that I don't find a real need for slack
team collaboration and accountability as well as tracking workflow.
The multiple channels are great. Lots of great convo.
Too many lurkers don't participate. Too many issues with task mgmt.
communication is great. Lots of pple like to speak via slack rather than teleconference or email.
I like the capability of keeping the whole history of conversation threads/projects organized.
When we already have email and other social media accounts to keep track of, this just seems like "one more account," as it doesn't have any capabilities that distinguish it a lot. It seems like a lot of group members don't check it regularly.
I use it to collaborate with academic colleagues on research projects. I like the ability to share and archive PDF documents within conversations.
Convenient, instant messaging that ensures that all team members stay "in the loop".
The programming feels a bit juvenile, which is uncomfortable in a professional setting.
Slack ensured that all members of the office stayed up to date with day-to-day happenings in the office. Slack messaging was more effective and convenient than email.
