Magento is very user friendly when it comes to building products and promotions
The CMS leaves a lot to be desired, it's incredibly time consuming to create robust landing pages
Running our entire eCommerce cart and product management system
Magento is flexible and easy to setup. Their mobile design is very nice and magento stores generally load quite quick. Also, because it allows 3rd party integrations it's favored by a lot of devs for all kinds of marketplaces.
My main issue with magento is that under heavy load a magento store with throw all kinds of crazy errors after the back end becomes unstable. I've experienced this developing for a retail store that sold shoes and some of which were exclusive so the rush of traffic rendered the site unusable for hours. I prefer Shopify personally.
The 3rd party integration allowed me to implement features that solved the small problems within our business. I think the customization aspect is the most beneficial for this platform.
If you dream it, and have very good programmers, you can create it and make it so
You need programmers and seemingly every time something new is installed it requires customization. This causes conflicts and more development work. You definitely need a strong testing platform and you will have some down time on your live platform
We use Magento as the center of our ecommerce world. All markets connect and we have 4 magento store fronts. Our ERP is embedded in Magento and we have created a full suite of reporting tools.
I like that Magento 2 has a ton of features and allows you to have multiple stores and multiple carts.
The fact that it's very difficult to develop for. It takes a long time to actually learn and get a great understanding of how everything works.
We needed to use it on a client site that wanted to have a shared cart across all their stores. It was one of the few options that gave us this ability.
Easy to use Easy to connect with other softwares Advanced e-commerce functions (catalog, merchandising...) A big community
Scalability Slowness Some functions (CMS)
Speed of implementation
The capabilities for inventory management and shopping cart/catalog rules (promotions and discounts). Order management seems good but we haven't used it too much (we proccess them throught another system). SEO seems pretty fine. It's a powerful system but maybe you don't need that much.
The complexity of the system. The ecosystem is poor: few plugins and extremely complex to make them work. Too expensive also if you want to find reliable alternatives. Making changes is complex, Magento has 20,000 files and it's over Zend (PHP Framework). That makes changes too hard. There are some templates but definitely it's not that there are too many options as in Woocommerce. The system is pretty heavy so be ready to spend on resources for your server. It seems like too much to me.
We are using it as an eCommerce for our company. We connected our API to Magento (not easy and we still have problems). We needed to connect some third party plugins, very hard and prepare to suffer Magento pain. Random errors when installing plugins. Making theme changes is long and complex. Definitely could have been easier.
I like Magento's robust back-end. It is solid.
I dislike that Magento requires a lot of server time to operate properly. It could be a cleaner, leaner machine on the back end (in my opinion).
Displaying products for sale online. It has helped my entertainment business to look more professional.
User friendly and easy to learn. Easy to get support if needed.
Does not always sync correctly between platform. Sometimes I find that information varies.
Solving platform issues
Quick to set up a barebones store. Admin interface passable and configuration options are abundant. Default themes look decent. There are also a decent amount of plugins, and Magento Connect makes them all very easy to find. The documentation is very good and through for both end-user and developers. There also a ton of articles, as well as a dedicated Stack Exchange site for Magento, which is extremely helpful when you inevitably encounter an issue. There are a fair amount of pre-made themes that look nice.
Admin interface isn't responsive and isn't as elegant as other solutions. You really get what you pay for when it comes to plugins. Sometimes it seems like Magento can be a mess of templates referencing other templates, which makes it difficult to find out where to make changes sometimes. The initial learning curve is moderately steep. The security issues are abundant but at least they're being addressed constantly.
I've used Magento to integrate inventory systems such as DDI and RICS for various clients. That required a custom API. I've also made basic Magento sites for clients not using any sort of third party inventory. The benefit of Magento is that it's so widely used, so support and help is usually pretty easy to find. Magmi is a great help with batch editing products, too. If there is a client with a large inventory, then I can see myself recommending Magento to them. If they're a smaller shop, I would lean towards a solution like Shopify, however.
Out of the box it's pretty powerful, and includes a heavy duty set of tools that would fit most small - medium size business very well.
Small community, documentation not super clear. Everything has a configuration file, so additions may sometimes need multiple updates across the codebase. Lack of modern approaches to front end development on the platform. Not necessarily an easy platform to develop on...
Product import and management, as well as customer management. The basic UI needed some work, but its was pretty much there for a savvy business person to come in and start managing product and orders.
Fully functional platform that allows me to customize well
Takes a bit of getting used too at the beginning
Trying to make our web experience better, the magento framework is a great aide in doing so.
It provides a starting platform for any small or big scale project focused on e-commerce.
The resource material and helpful guides are sometimes outdated and isn't useful when needed.
Creating a scalable marketplace for students across universities and schools.
I had originally chosen Magento becuase of the customization capability on how the website would be displayed.
The system is so outdated and not user friendly like other platforms.
We are noticing it's taking a longer time to do easy task such as look up an order or refund a customer, as there are specific ways to do so. With other platforms, the most used tools are readily accessible.
The CMS is good than any competitor management system, it's very detailed, good for big e-commerce multi-merchant or even create a marketplace platform
To complicated for the new user who doesn't have experience in the e-commerce management system. need to learn at least 2 - 3 hours to know all the flow. for small e-commerce, I don't recommend for the using Magento CMS. it's no update UI, seems outdated.
The platform is good for big commerce, Magento can handle complex flow for ordering such rent product, but a bit hard for the customize
it is great and cheap but not many person are learning it and it became hard to find poeple to work with this.
I needed to change from magento to an other program because younger poeple are not learning it and it is not the easiest
website creator with php, python, sql and other language
Able to make changes easily to our site and quickly update our products with images.
Time difference when we need support has been a bit of a challenge
Huge growth on our retail e commerce side of the business
Great ecommerce platform that can integrate with my company, implementing all the content we have.
Magento is not a one stop platform where I can utilize shipping and marketing all in one site.
integration and implementing out business plan.
Magento is relatively easy to organize. But their SEO compatible shopping cart design is fantastic. What they lack in simple page development and page naming infrastructure is greatly made up for with the SEO options. A client switched over to Magento and it required me learning the system. But once I'd crossed the learning curve it was a functional shopping cart system that integrated well with PayPal. Coupons and sales work well.
Page naming infrastructure is horrid. Grindingly slow page design. Required third party outside consulting. Doesn't allow for a robust web site, but works well enough. Not so user friendly for the non-technical.
Better shopping cart option. Easier to add and remove products. Better SEO options. While the switch over took much longer than anticipated, the site worked well enough once the migration was completed.
Magento has some structure to it that allows significant extensions to be created without modifying core files, and it runs quickly and makes SEO easy.
It is extremely difficult to figure out how to do things the Magento way, and almost everybody who knows anything about the system will offer an expensive Magento extension as a solution, regardless of the help forum.
We are solving the problem of selling products over the Internet and displaying information about the artist whose work inspired these products.
It has lot offeaturess andpricese based on business sizets user-friendly interface helps a beginner a lot.Adobe Commerce has a large and active community of developers and users that help a lot
I dislike adobe commerce is people didn't know about its fantastic tool. Tool awareness must need. So more people use and grow their business.
ADOBE COMMERCE solves shop appearance and its many features and helps me to grow my business.it is cost-efficient.
